With their recent finals sweep against the Ateneo Lady Blue Eagles for the UAAP Season 75 championship still fresh in Lasallian memory, Abi Marano and the rest of the DLSU Lady Spikers are no longer going to represent just the La Salle community but the entire Philippines in the upcoming Asian Volleyball Championship.

The Lady Spikers turned heads as they dominated the UAAP courts, finishing with a slate of 13-1 which awarded them the top seed in the semifinals. The ladies then impressed the country even more as they swept the Final Four competition by beating the NU Lady Bulldogs and the Ateneo Lady Blue Eagles to win their third straight championship.

With this upcoming challenge, the De Jesus-mentored squad is now on a quest to hone their skills further to bring pride to the Pearl of the Orient.

The dynamic MVP duo of Abi Marano and Ara Galang will be at the forefront of the squad’s attack once more, much like in the recently concluded season. Graduating players Melissa Gohing, Michele Gumabao and Wensh Tiu will suit up with their teammates for one last time as they fight for Philippine flag and country.

As of now, the Lady Spikers are having a short break in order to recuperate from the recently concluded UAAP tournament. The squad will begin training in the second week of April under Coach Sammy Acaylar, to acclimate themselves with the international brand of play.

Several plays that focus on the strengths of the Taft-based players are being formulated to ensure that the national squad can perform at their peak for the upcoming tournament and hurdles the challenges that come their way.
