Prepare to witness a clash of Asia’s premier ballers.

Jeron Teng of the DLSU Green Archers is set for an epic showdown with Jeremy Lin of the Houston Rockets in a charity game this coming October 9 at the Enrique Razon Sports Complex. This match will be in line with the Preseason NBA game of the Rockets versus the Pacers on October 10.

“Siyempre excited na akong makalaban si Lin, isa sa mga idol ko yan eh, pero sa court walang idol idol, we just need to play our hearts out,” shares Teng about his coming matchup with Lin.

Archers’ top patron Danding ‘ECJ’ Cojuanco, Jr. was chiefly responsible for organizing the match. After the confirmation of the NBA Preseason game in the Philippines, he immediately spoke with the NBA director to secure a match between the Archers and the Rockets.

“I came up with the idea since Tengsanity was nicknamed because of the Linsanity fever back then. That’s why when I heard about the Rockets going here (Philippines), I really asked my staff to make a Teng-Lin match up possible,” says ECJ.

The game will feature the two teams of the Archers and the Rockets, with Teng and Lin serving as team captains for their respective squads.

For Teng’s squad are former Archer Joshua Webb, Cameroonian center Benoit Mbala, Thomas Torres, Arnold Van Opstal, swingman Jason Perkins, Yutien Andrada, Ameen Sardouk, Almond Vosotros and Mac Tallo to make up the team.

Lin’s own squad will be composed of their top gun in James Harden, to go alongside big man Omer Asik, forward Chandler Parsons, sharpshooter Carlos Delfino, Patrick Patterson, Toney Douglas, Patrick Beverley and Royce White.

In the recently concluded UAAP Season, Teng averaged 16.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

After scoring big in the recruitment wars, Teng was just the complementary piece that the Green Archers solely needed given his aggressive playing stance and his array of post moves.

On the other hand, Lin is currently posting career averages of 13 points, 3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per outing in his current stint with the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets’ floor general is also famously known as the worldwide phenomenon dubbed “Linsanity.” During that stretch, Lin still being a member of an injury-riddled New York Knicks, the former Harvard alum sparked a huge seven-game winning streak that propelled his former team for a playoff berth.

Among his famous highlights from that brief run was his career high 38 points against the Los Angeles Lakers, and his famous game winner over the Toronto Raptors.

Expect both ballers to display their own brand of style on the court in their amazing fashion.

Being one of the best penetrators in the collegiate scene, Teng hopes he could use his strength and drive to counter Lin.

“I think advantage ko over Lin is my ability to drive to the rim strong, siguro enough na ‘yun,” Teng expresses.

On the other hand, Lin expects his ability as a pass-first point guard in shredding Teng’s team, saying, “The ball finds energy with me manning the helm, I think I can be infectious enough to outmuscle Jeron and his friends.”

The game is also set to keep the Archers in shape even after the Season. “I agreed with Boss Danding’s idea because I want my boys to keep their game shape after our UAAP season. Maybe it’s too early to plan this but I think this will be a good match,” predicts Archers’ head coach Gee Abanilla.
