Can’t put your phone down? Hear from a researcher on how to beat social media addiction

Social media addiction fuels procrastination and unrealistic expectations, so an esteemed researcher offers a creative guide to break the cycle.

With social media use out of control, Dr. Soos provides some poetic advice.

In an era of gizmos, where trends are sought,
And the brain begins to rot,
A fierce battle brews—a fight for time, attention, and whatnots!

And for those with eye-phones, some folks will say,
“If you take their gizmos away, their hair will turn gray.”
What even is this? And why does it exist?
Why can’t people resist these screens that persist?

The rese-archer knows, he studies this all alone,
Ask him this problem, he knows and made it his own.

Now you can talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime, with a click!
There it is, information at your fingertips, ready with a flick.
But beware the trap of consumption—
It leads to distraction and deep procrastination.

Unrealistic standards fool our view,
Fostering insecurities that stick like glue.
And sadly, the anxious and the lonely remain very gloomy,
Chasing approval ever so meekly.

Remember the days of face-to-face chatter?
When clout wasn’t chased, and life truly mattered?
Yes, life before social media had a simpler pace,
Not many centered themselves on curated lives and showing their face.

Distractions were few, boundaries had few infractions.
Who knew that less comparisons meant more satisfaction?

But now, listen here, the issue is perfectly clear.
UNLESS someone like you cares awfully a lot, nothing is going to change,
No, it will not.

SO be honest with yourself and have a modest screen time plan.
Set a goal, write it down, and don’t be a clown,
And say, “Yes, I can!”

Now, disable alerts, and avoid the attractions.
Cut the noise, skip the distractions.

Set boundaries! No eye-phones during meals.
And right after waking up or before sleep, avoid the reels!
Be mindful and replace the habit with care.
Talk to loved ones, a professional, then let your heart repair.

Follow those who truly inspire,
Igniting curiosity like fire.
And finally, treat yourself with life’s sweets,
A simple reward for your humble feats
And soon you’ll find your heart with joy that beats!
